Recently, a youth travel baseball team spent time in our community visiting with residents. It was a fantastic event – the athletes created bags of trail mix for everyone to enjoy and passed out root beer floats. The group also did exercises together, played balloon baseball and engaged in conversation and trivia. The athletes were so well mannered and surely created a meaningful moment for all. It was nice to see a sports team doing community service in the community. It is always great to see these intergenerational programs taking place, as it benefits everyone. After the event it was nice to hear all of the comments from the team asking when they could come back again and the residents sharing how much they enjoyed the visit. The connection runs even further as one of the team moms works for Bayada. We have a great relationship with Bayada, who is our on-site rehabilitation team. If your organization or team would be interested in setting up an intergenerational program in our community please reach out to Megan Richmond, Community Life Director.
