Naya Kick-Off Celebration

We recently held our Naya kick-off celebration in our community for our residents and associates! The spirited event gave us an opportunity to explain the program vision to the community, present our associates with their new titles and revel in all of the exciting and great things that are currently taking place!! What is a Naya you ask…

Our memory care neighborhoods represent a household model. We want the residents who live here to live as they lived at home. Our associates who work in this neighborhood are called Nayas. We chose the name Naya from an ancient Sanskrit language meaning Guide and Leader. We want the Nayas to not just give care, but to guide and partner with the elders so they can continue to live a meaningful life regardless of what stage of memory impairment they are in. We partnered with the National Council of Dementia Practitioners to train our Nayas how to incorporate residents in the rhythms of daily living. In our Memory Care neighborhood, our residents continue to experience cooking, baking, gardening, cleaning the house, washing clothes and anything else that evokes a sense of purpose or just relaxing on the couch watching a good movie. Our Nayas help lead and guide the elders in these normal everyday activities. Our memory care neighborhoods are like one big happy family!
